Tanzania: Govt Cracks Down on Criminals Targeting Mobile Money Providers
The government is in the process of cracking down seven networks of suspected criminals who have conducted raids, robberies and murder, mostly targeting mobile money service providers.
The Home Affairs minister, Mr Charles Kitwanga informed the public today as he cited robbery incidents, which saw some mobile money service providers attacked, injured or killed in the city recently.
"We've already managed to break down two of the networks, as we zero in on the remaining five others," the minister said.
The city has for two months witnessed seven cases of armed robbers invading, looting and killing entrepreneurs, mostly the mobile money service providers, right at their shops at Nyasaka, Kiseke, Shede, Nyegezi, Nyakato and Bugarika, among other suburbs.
"The government won't tolerate seeing innocent people attacked, robbed of their valuables or killed by robbers. We'll hunt, arrest and arraign them all", he stressed.
