Total Zambia to offer MTN mobile money

MTN subscribers will be able to make payments and purchases using their smart phones at Total gas stations in the country. It will also allow affordable money transfers across the southern African nation, according to MTN Zambia chief executive officer Charles Molapisi.

“We believe that Zambia is embracing this new money transfer technology. To make it more convenient for our customers, we are partnering with organisations such as Total Zambia to ensure that they have a 24/7 availability of cash anywhere in Zambia,” said Molapisi in Zambia’s The Post report.

Total managing director Damien Ricour-Dumas also said that the partnership, which will provide convenient and safe money transfers, demonstrates the oil company’s commitment to offer services beyond distributing fuel.

“Total has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting communities and as a group, we are delighted to achieve this together with MTN Zambia,” said Ricour-Dumas.

Molapisi explained that MTN mobile money service also aims to provide people, who don’t have bank accounts, access to financial services.
