Senegal: Expresso launches its “E-Money†service
The mobile operator, Expresso, a subsidiary of the Sudanese telecom group, Sudatel, has finally invested in the Senegalese mobile money sector. The telecom company launched its ‘E-money’ dedicated to mobile money service on Feb. 15, 2018, in Dakar. By doing so, the company expands its offers to consumers.
“This new service will benefit all our customers and everybody in the society,” said Abdalla Saeed, Expresso’s managing director. It will allow the company to meet its goal which is to “be the first company to support Africa’s transformation and development through the digital economy".
According to Fatou Sow Kane, director of the “E-Money” project, “the service will not only include the standard banking service which consists of sending and receiving money but it will provide a means to pay bills via an international high-level digital platform”.
For the record, Expresso is the last operator to enter the mobile money market in Senegal after Orange Money, which was launched in 2011 and Tigo cash in 2014.
