Ghana:Airtel Money Makes Good Use of Govt’s E-Services Portal
Airtel Ghana has since the introduction of its Airtel Money platform been successful in making the service more attractive and acceptable to all.
The platform has been instrumental in changing the way people transact business, and it is progressively moving towards achieving its target of helping to propel Ghana towards a cashless society.
Though mobile money payment is a relatively new platform in the country, Airtel Money has caught on well in the Ghanaian market and some parts of the continent. Airtel Ghana at the launch of Government’s E-Payment Portal recently, reinforced its position as having the most reliable platform when it comes to mobile money transactions. At a live demonstration section at the launch, payments through Airtel Money were the most seamless and efficient when compared with other mobile money services currently available on the platform.
Commenting on the partnership with Government on the e-Services project, head of Corporate Communications and External Affairs at Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira stated that “Airtel Money is excited at the opportunity to provide online payment and e-commerce solution on the government’s e-services portal. We are indeed fulfilled that we are facilitating the payment of forms and procurement of services by our subscribers.
Using Airtel Money for the payment of services listed on the e-services portal is simpler, better, faster and convenient since subscribers can make all these payments from the touch of a button on their mobile phones”. He further noted that since the introduction of Airtel Money on the Ghanaian market, Airtel customers have enjoyed the safety and convenience of e-commerce transactions and the company keeps on expanding its frontiers by introducing innovative products and services and signing on more merchants who find Airtel Money a preferred mode for payment.
Government’s “Services go Live” forms part of the e-Government initiatives under the e-Ghana project and it’s being implemented by the National Information Technology Agency to support operations of government services online. It currently provides opportunity for payment for Government services as well as postal and delivery services and application security for various government agencies.
