Zain Bahrain, a leading telecom service provider, has launched a free money transfer service for the Filipino community in order to create comfort for the victims of the recent typhoons in the Philippines.
Zain’s one-of-a-kind money transfer service, ME2U, between Bahrain and the Philippines will be free of charge till October 11, so that Zain customers may transfer money instantly to their families in the Philippines.
In addition, Zain Bahrain has launched an SMS donations drive where customers can donate BD1 ($2.65) via SMS by sending the number 1 to the SMS code 1111.
BD1 will be deducted from customer’s Zain mobile account. Zain has pledged to match the donation with the same amount so that the final amount will be doubled.
The donations are accepted till October 8 when the final amount will be handed over to the Philippines Embassy officials.
“Zain Bahrain has received enthusiastic support for its hassle-free ME2U money transfer service over mobile network and customers have found it easy to operate this unique ‘bank account-money exchange’,” said Bashar al Alami, manager, product innovation.
“For the Philippines specifically, customers can transfer money directly to Global – Gcash. GCash is well known in the Philippines for establishing a wide network for mobile banking,” he added.
“We are very keen to be of assistance to our Filipino customers and want to express our solidarity with them in this time of distress, hence all money transfers will be free of charge till October 11 and our SMS donations campaign will channel needy donations through the Philippines Embassy to the victims,” al Alami explained.
