RollPay
ROLLCOMM is a company founded in December 2006, based in Hungary, Budapest, and
offers global Bluetooth mobile device-based solutions in two core areas:
communication and payment.
The mobile payment solution, the ROLLPAY is an end-to-end Bluetooth mobile payment solution, that includes an authorization host, and can be used in all payment situations (point of sale, vending machines, internet, car’s on-board computer, etc.) by the customer.
The Rollpay is an easily usable, quick and safe payment solution, which guarantees unique profit and effective client raise for retailers, banks, financial firms, mobile operators company along with significant drop of infrastructure cost, and also that they can offer new stand alone Bluetooth-based mobile paying to their clients.
Rollpay’s technology does not require the modification of the mobile devices (mobile phone, PDA, notebook), and the storage of user’s important data.
This is a software, which is pre-installed or installable or can be downloaded for free from Rollpay Terminals to every maker’s – suitable – device, mobile phone (Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, etc.), PDA (HP, HTC, I-Mate, Mitac, etc.), with which payment, financial, loyalty and other transactions can be started and executed.
Basically it’s a mobile payment solution, but it works without any telecommunication companies, because it uses the Bluetooth hotspot to communicate with the system, and the only reason it is on mobile phones is that almost everyone has it, and almost every device can connect to the system via Bluetooth. And this is its strength.
The less parties in the paying procedure, the cheaper is the transaction. In this system there are no sms messages, nothing, only the local Bluetooth hotspot. This makes it much faster and cheaper compared to other systems, because in the 100 meter hotspot there can be many transactions at the same time, and with a few Rollpay Terminals even big stores’ cashier lines can be covered and served.
Following the integration of Rollpay into Accenture’s Web 2.0 platform as its end payment solution, the product was introduced in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It was received very well, a great number of people have watched the live demonstrations on the spot and ever since the interest shown has been
increasing.
Rollpay does not require the involvement of any of the card companies or clearing entities, which means that the settlement / clearing functions can be kept – in-house. It will be an important consideration for
data protection purposes. Rollpay does not require the involvement of any mobile carriers, either.
With on going, development and by the end of the year,RollPay will come up with a micropayment solution which will be operating without a client software installed on the mobile phone. It will run on almost all Bluetooth enabled phones and it will be important in markets where the penetration of card payments is relatively low and mobile payment will become the superior method.
It is still important that customers from outside the market (or those belong the card using minority) can use their payment cards on the Rollpay platform. This would also ensure smooth transition between Rollpay and card payments, as card customers can potentially have both products at the same time (even linked
to the same account) and can decide which one to use.
Bluetooth 3.0 will soon be released which will have dramatically reduced energy intake – an impact that customers will no doubt greatly appreciate. Bluetooth 3.0 will give rock solid direction as to future hardware developments.
Accenture has selected Rollcomm to be a Bluetooth Mobile Payment solution
Rollpay of its Web 2.0 platform.

Great idea, but will this work over the long run?
